(Photos by the author) – You didn’t think we were simply going to share one measly gallery from the salt today, did you? HA! Oh ye of little faith. Nope, here’s a second blast of images that I nabbed early on in the Speed Week experience and this collection has everything from small blocks to the mighty Target 550 entry. As much as people compare Bonneville to the environment of old school drag racing there is one thing that is literally like the old school world of drag racing and that is the fact that you run in whatever order you line up in the staging lanes. Just like back in the day there’s not separation of  classes, etc. That’s why you’ll see a car like Target 550 with a small engine door slammer entry behind it or the Speed Demon with a diesel entry chasing it to the starting line. You never really know what’s coming next!

Enjoy these photos. The Target 550 car did not have the outing that they were seeking but we we were excited to watch it all the same. The car is an engineering tour de force, with a lot of emphasis on the “force” part. Two thumping engines and about a train length of wheelbase make it as imposing as it is impressive.
