One of the reasons that Alan Reinhart and I hit it off when I first went out on the NHRA tour is because we’re both really into cars. Not just drag racing, but cars in general. Alan’s history is neat because long before he was an announcer he was a heavy equipment mechanic. He’s been around big trucks and equipment, had to make field fixes, and is a far better wrench and fabricator than I’ll ever hope to be. Alan has a cool shop in Tucson, Arizona where he calls home and in this video we get to take a tour of it.
There’s some cool stuff here. The motorcycle is a recent addition to his program and I remember when he scored the thing from an alcohol funny car racer a year or so ago. The Mustang is a wicked car with an all aluminum small block Ford. It makes big power and he has owned it since high school. Like all of us, he has a parts horde that he looks after, and unlike all of us, he has some pretty legit stuff to use in his shop. The welder, the lathe, and the mills that he has are all neat stuff that he uses for project and entertainment.
This is a great look at Alan’s workshop, clubhouse, and oasis from the road…when we actually have to go on it. Hell, this is the first time I have ever seen the inside of the place outside of still photos!

Ceci est un excellent aperçu de l\’atelier, du club-house et de l\’oasis d\’Alan depuis la route … quand nous devons réellement y aller. Enfer, c\’est la première fois que je vois l\’intérieur de l\’endroit en dehors des photos!
I would take that shop in a heartbeat!
Nice video, but why not rotate the camera 90 degrees and fill the screen?
Excellent, thanks for sharing Alan, Nhra and especially Bangshift. Such a cool feature and one of the dare I say legends of motorsports, especially Drag Racing. Thanks and hope to see everyone out and about SAFELY as soon as we all can. Love your Family, Love your Friends help your Neighbors when you can, Respect each other and each others space but above all Love Life.
Great behind the scene tour of Alan’s shop…thanks a lot BS
