Cartoon Break: Tiny Toons Takes On “Duel” With The Same Red Plymouth And One Unlucky Little Coyote!

Cartoon Break: Tiny Toons Takes On “Duel” With The Same Red Plymouth And One Unlucky Little Coyote!

Ah, Tiny Toon Adventures. I’ll admit that nothing will take the place of the original Looney Tunes for the ultimate Saturday Morning Cartoon, but Tiny Toons was a sarcastic, wit-fueled breather I got after I came home from grade school every afternoon. No wonder I am what I am in adulthood…but I digress. Tiny Toons centered around “kid” versions of the major Looney Tunes characters, so for old-time favorites like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig you got Buster Bunny, Plucky Duck and Hampton J. Pig. The younger version of the ever-unlucky Wile E. Coyote of Coyote and Roadrunner fame was Calamity Coyote, and just like his predecessor, he must have done something severely wrong in a past life, because the deck was stacked against him a thousand to one every last time. Calamity didn’t chase the Roadrunner equivalent, Little Beeper, with as much enthusiasm…instead he preferred to work on scientific experiments and the random hand-held signs that he used to communicate with.

Now, if you’ve ever seen the 1971 movie Duel, you’ll immediately recognize the Plymouth Valiant that Calamity is driving and the Peterbilt 281 that is pursuing him. Just like the real-life movie, that truck has it out for the driver of the Plymouth badly. Shame Calamity doesn’t quite have the ability to get out of the way of the truck before getting flattened out like a pancake! If you want a quick laugh for the day, click on the link below and see a great Warner Bros. take on a classic car chase film!
