Maybe it was the overall look, maybe it was the engine, maybe it was the six speed stick, I don’t really know. What I do know is that at 24 years old, with a decent job, and no kids yet, I was one decent salesmen away from buying one of these trucks and when I watch this MotorWeek review, I am reminded why. Hell, I’m reminded why I keep peeking on eBay and seeing what they are going for these days! For starters, I liked the earlier version of this truck more than the later one. I wanted the short bed, single cab, not the later crew cab version that came out. These things speak to me. Don’t judge!
I think it is probably the idea of the truck more than the truck itself that gets me cranked up. Someone had to fight to make this a reality and at the always teetering Chrysler that must have been one hell of a fight. It is tough to saw whether or not the company made a dime on these rigs but when you look at them from an assembly point of view, they did offer a V10 in this chassis, they did offer a stick in this chassis, so at the end of the day, additional expenses may have been minimized.
These trucks can be had for decent money on eBay these days. I suppose getting one that has not been redneck hammered to death will be the hard part but I plan to keep on looking. Sometimes that itch just never goes away.
