It has been years since Keith and Tonya Turk, along with Freiburger have had the band together in chasing land speed racing glory. Well, that all changes this week as after a long time and a load of work, the famed Hot Rod Special Camaro is back into fighting shape and will be attempting to garner more glory on the El Mirage dry lake bed. The car is sporting a ProCharger equipped small block Chevy and will be chasing records of over 200mph in the dirt.
James Champion shot this video while working at the shop with Keith and Tonya to get the car buttoned up for the long tow from Alabama to California and as you’ll see there were still loose ends being buttoned up. This car has a really amazing history which most of you likely know, having set records all over the USA from northern Maine all the way to Bonneville and of course, El Mirage. It has put Keith, Tony, and Freibuger into 200mph clubs across the continent and it was event shipped to Australia only to see the event rained out when they got there.
After a long layoff of competition, the car has been taken down to the bones and basically brought back from the ground up. It is cool to see this warrior back to form and we wish Keith, Tonya, and Freiburger the best of luck as they chase history and records at El Mirage!

At least one of the new doors (maybe both) and some other sheet metal bits are from my old E/CP Camaro so something I used to own will break 200!
