The Stupicharger: Hoonigan’s Lab Rat Firebird Returns With More Forced Induction!

The Stupicharger: Hoonigan’s Lab Rat Firebird Returns With More Forced Induction!

On one hand, we have to say that we do not miss the “turdos” that used to be mounted on this Pontiac Firebird one bit. The car looked like a fan of Russian ekranoplans went way overboard one night while drinking heavily and decided that they were suddenly an engineer. The first round wasn’t pretty. The second round got cut short when someone (*cough*BRAD*cough) decided to do an impromptu second demonstration and performed a money shift while in the middle of a dragstrip test. So long, OEM small-block, your suffering is over.

So…the Firebird is back? Yes sir, it is. A carbureted LS mill has been stuffed inside, and it’s drinking some E85, so no big deal, that should be decent enough on it’s own. Should. But what in the name of everything holy is going on with the front end? Well…on the plus side, there is a Vortech supercharger involved. Good brand name, good choice. So…what the hell is a Predator engine doing attached to the front of this thing and why is it wearing twenty feet of sewer plumbing?! Well, it’s dubbed the stupicharger, and the idea is simple: a supercharger takes horsepower away from the engine due to parasitic drag. By putting the supercharger on a separate engine that isn’t attached to the LS, there might be a hope that they can make the Pontiac somehow rocket down the strip.

Take one look at that fuel tank for the auxiliary engine and be glad that you are witnessing this through your screen and nowhere closer. Spell it with me, kids:

S-K-E-T-C-H-Y!

I wish I had the time and money do to the stupid things these guys do!
They were probably turning the supercharger the wrong way creating a vacuum instead of boost!

So, ugly race cars are the new fad these days? Anyone showing up with something like that at your nearest dragstrip would get kicked out before firing it up.

    To each their own.

And the loss due to aerodynamic drag and additional weight aren\’t considered at all apparently…
