(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – So at these US60 Nationals events SAM and Top Gas have indexed ladders after time shots.  Top gas is for ANY pre-79 vehicle that doesn’t fit the loose SAM rules which boils down to having a straight front axle and doors.  There are also exhibition runs and flag drags for the show cars and others that want to participate.  One highlight of the day was the appearance of ‘The Panty Dropper’ altered.  I’ve seen photos but never had to opportunity to witness it in person.  It’s quite the machine and can really scoot.  It was getting a bit squirrely that day and there was some pedaling and much steering.

The bright red MP Corvette was something I hadn’t seen there previously and wow did it look and run good.  After the day events are done US60 conducts their normal Saturday evening program which is normally a gamblers race.  Anyone can run and many from the day event will stick around to make laps and have fun.  This is just one reason of many this is my favorite track.

Almost forgot to mention the ecotech-powered rail buggy.  When they get the launch/chassis dialed in so it can wail it will be running some good times.  As-is….the thing is pretty entertaining.
