Long before the internet, few hot rodders had any REAL idea what happened in the back of the machine shops they sent their parts to. Drop it off, come back a week later to get it, pay the man, and your stuff was magically fixed, balanced, improved, or otherwise. Fast forward to today. People now “know” more than they ever have about the stuff done at an engine machine shop but we’re not sure they actually KNOW beyond seeing it and being able to parrot terms and buzzwords.
Initially we were kind of bummed with the latest Redline Rebuild because of the fact that it is just a normal 283 small block Chevy. That said, we have been impressed with the granular detail of the build coverage so far and that really does include this episode at the machine shop getting a balance job perfected.
If you know what balancing is but are unawares of the actual process, this is the video for you. From the connecting rods to the precise and time consuming process of internally balancing a crank, you will see it all here with great hosting and explanation. This is good stuff!
Very nice blog, I liked it, do visit my blog too
