Big Evil: Watch This Twin Turbocharged, Big Block Powered 1970 Ford Ranchero Make 1,500hp To The Tires

There’s big, there’s bad, and then there’s this. Honestly I have never been a fan of the styling around the 1970 Ranchero or Torino. I think they are just too big and there’s just yards and yards of sheetmetal that seems excessive. This 1970 Ranchero has fixed me of that opinion. Why? It has huge rear meats, it has perfect black paint, it has a twin turbocharged big block that creates 1,500hp to the rear tires. Like the post about the Thunderbird the other day, this thing was completely and utterly fixed with cubic inches and boost.

While I was hoping that it was a Ford big block under the hood, I’m undoubtedly sure that it is a Chevy that’s making all that good noise. This looks the world like a drag week ready car to us and with that bed, the convenience factor is built right in!

When the driver stands on the gas, this thing absolutely tries to pull itself right off the rollers like the mighty Sampson wrecking the temple. Killer stuff to watch the front end rise and the rear tires really dig in on those rollers hard.

Anyone know who owns this beast? We want to know! With 1,500hp and 1,300 lb-ft of torque, it’ll do the quarter mile shuffle quite fine, won’t it? It does look like there’s a roll bar in there which is really, really good.

Press play below to see this monster 1,500hp 1970 Ranchero get after it!

Please tell me it doesnt have a chivy . A Jon Kaase 9 or 500 cid BBF would be better . I think the 70 still looks better than the 74 and up .

I love that Chebbie guys think these Fords have too much sheet metal. ALL 70 Plus cars have too much sheet metal regardless of make. Yes, this includes the beloved SS cars, plymouths, and the rest. 1967 was the epoch of American car design, it just became excess after that.

I saw this at Late Model Throttle this weekend in Waukesha, WI. Absolutely insane and pretty damn scary to be right next to it.

I actually owned a 1970 Ranchero for about a month back around 1975. After totaling my beloved 1970 Mach 1 Mustang my dad talked me into buying the Ranchero because he wanted a truck in the family. I hated driving this turd (351w 2 bbl) and sold it after about a month. After seeing this video maybe they Ranchero could have been made cool after all.
