Playing With Blocks: This Update On The Hagerty Cadillac Build Concentrates on Block Machining, Piston and Rod Assembly, More

The Hagerty Cadillac 365 engine project that we’ve ben following has been updated! This video is all about measuring, boring, and preparing the important basics of any engine for a long life. No, this is not the most exotic and sexy project that they have ever worked on but we’ll tell you that we’re interested in this engine simply because it is different. We’ve never really seen anything in depth about these things and by all measure, this looks like a good piece.

In this video you’ll see how Davin is measuring the re-sized rods for crank machining, how the fresh pistons get installed on the rods and then how the block is first bored and then honed to get it all measuring correctly. The process is one that has been done on millions of engines over the years but one that is important if you want something that will run as good as it did the day it left the Cadillac factory.

We dig this engine as a stock rebuild. Normally that does not spin our crank too hard but this dignified lump of iron will sound good, run awesome, and move a really wonderful old Yank Tank down the road!
