Teardown Time: This Relaxed Video Shows A 283 That’s Been Out Of Commission Since 1997 Coming Apart

The 283 Chevy has a special place in the hearts of many hot rodders. They were small engines that carried the small block banner proudly after Chevy decided that 265ci was just not enough. They were performance engines in the Corvette and they were likely the most common engine of many 1960s hot rodders first project cars. Produced on a massive scale they poweed cars, trucks, and whatever else GM could wedge them into.

We think that if you have kids that dig cars or are working to inspire more of them to get into the car hobby, they need to see this video. Why? It is basic, cool, informative, and may be the spark they need to tap you on the shoulder and say, “Can we try that….”
