Finding The Limit: This Video Shows Turbocharger And Boost Level Testing To The Failure Point

Finding The Limit: This Video Shows Turbocharger And Boost Level Testing To The Failure Point

When companies develop products or new systems, testing them on the dyno is really important. It’s important to test them at the level most people will use them and it is also important to test them in way that likely very few people will use them at to find out where the limits are. In this latest episode of The Horsepower Monster series, the setting is Titan Racing Engines (formerly Gray Motorsports) in Denver, North Carolina. On the dyno is a 5.3L LS engine with ARP head bolts, a set of aluminum heads (which according to the video are basically factory replacements) and some really basic internal modifications. Oh, there’s also a cool set of turbos from Armageddon Turbo Systems feeding this sucker boost.

The turbos themselves are really nice but the cast manifolds that they came up with are bad ass. Bringing the turbos up and in, they are about the tightest tuck to the engine that we can remember. As there is a stock truck manifold on this engine and the turbos are the exact same height, this package should fit any place the stock manifold setup would fit.

As you’ll see through the dyno pulls and increasing boost levels, these guys are serious about getting it right and making the most power.
