My manic love of searching up rare and expensive intake manifolds has yielded another wacky find. This is an Edelbrock STR-11 cross ram that was manufactured in 1970 in apparently VERY small numbers. The asking price for this intake is $8,867 US bucks. I specify US because the listing is actually in Canadian bucks which places the price north of 11,000 of ’em. We’re not sure if these things are so expensive because they work so well or if Edelbrock made like 15 of them and then quit. We’re guessing it is the latter and not the former, but that’s just us.
Typically speaking, these intakes don’t work worth a crap as compared to modern stuff but typically speaking, they are cool as hell. We have looked at old photos of the 1970s pro stock AMC engines and they certainly did not use this intake. Perhaps sportsman racers did and certainly some guys who wanted to look bad ass on the street but just seeing the size of the cavernous plenum that this guy has would give the impression that street manner would be lacking to say the least.
If you hate money and want to build an awesome looking AMC big block, this is your ticket. Just pay the money and don’t think twice!
