Want To Know What The 2015 Challenger Drag Pack’s Supercharged Engine Will Have For Power? This Dyno Video May Be Telling Us

When we were at the reveal of the 2015 Dodge Challenger Drag Pack at the US Nationals, Chrysler was really tight lipped about the power output of the 426ci late model Hemi with the Whipple blower mounted to the top of it. We assumed that it would be competitive with the other blown combos from Ford and GM so after being shot out of the sky by the engineering types we gave up and just started thinking that it would be about an 800hp engine. Randomly we found a video on YouTube showing the guys at Arrington Performance running a 426ci (new) Hemi on a dyno pull with a Whipple blower bolted to it! It bears mentioning that this blower is the larger 2.9L huffer and our understanding is that the Challenger Drag Pack cars will wear a smaller 2.4L blower. They only spin this one to 6,000 RPM and it is making well more than 800hp for a long part of the way. Woah!

Again, we’re not saying that this is the identical package but if that is a 426 with Apache heads on it and it responds to boost like that, those cars are going to fly like mothers! Here’s a look at the dyno screen and then the video of the pull is below it. To us, these are impressive numbers and they are numbers that say the package cars will be able to finally contend with Ford and Chevrolet in the AAA/SA ranks and other places where they are completely out muscled now.

  1. JB

Those numbers are even more impressive when you note that they are SAE power numbers. STP correction would be approximately 4% higher, pushing the power output close to 900 hp.
