Watch ALL The Fire Burnouts From The Dragstalgia Event At Santa Pod Last Weekend – Some Of These Are Insane

Watch ALL The Fire Burnouts From The Dragstalgia Event At Santa Pod Last Weekend – Some Of These Are Insane

The other day we showed you and up close and personal view of a fire burnout from Santa Pod’s Dragstalgia last weekend. As it turns out, they had a bunch of guys lined up who did a series of fire burnouts and this video shows each of the exhibition infernos. All of a sudden, we’re thinking that there is an awesome and violent alternative to a cacklefest and that would be a parade of front engine, fuel burning dragsters doing these burnouts. Now, the cars shown here are not burning nitro but they are burning…literally.

While all the burnouts are cool, the last one is off the charts, bat crap, nutty. Why? Well the driver claims that he didn’t know that the puddle had been lit and the car sits in the racing fire for seconds on end before he hammers the gas. We’re not sure if he did it on purpose or not but either way, it is really awesome to watch. He is in there so long a flipping fireman walks to the front of the car and basically tells him to get on with it!

Sadly, you cannot do this at strips in the good ol’ USA as both the NHRA and IHRA would have a cow and send a pretty nasty letter to the track if video like this surfaced from a sanctioned strip here. It would be the ultimate bad ass deal to have a cacklefest start with ever car doing a nasty fire burnout. Since that can’t happen here, we think that our nitro loving pals across the pond can get that done.

Jolly good show, lads!

I don’t get it. Seems dumb. How about we throw a bunch of chocolate pudding at the driver or something while he does a burnout? Seems just about as relevant. But then again, I don’t understand the mini-tired, 4 door, blower car Aussie burnout fests either. I can appreciate their passion though.
A good burnout only requires a cool car, and a display of real raw power, on tires that suit the car. Nothing more. This here kind of reminds me of those guys that put a bunch of pillow stuffing around the tires of their show cars to earn points. Completely unnecessary and dumb to me, but each to their own.

Fire burnouts have been done for show in drag racing since the 1960s. If we try to sit down and make logical sense of anything to do with hot rodding or racing it’ll all seem unnecessary and dumb.

go back to the 70s and have a look a mag features of named drivers, ivo perhaps. Fire burnouts are part of drag racing. Would people be hatin if garlits, or force did it? Cant be that bad if BS post about it.

Below are some examples of where famous racers have done it. It’s a cool display thing and was carried out under controlled circumstances with lots of fire crew ready to dive in at any point. As for hating the cars, not at all, I love my FED, and no harm came to it during the Fire Burnout what so ever – except for maybe the white on the tyres getting discoloured. Were all wearing fire gear as normal, and if theres a problem during this the car is stationery almost immediately, unlike if were doing a run down the track, and as said there are fire crew ready with extinguishers trained on us.
