Watch These Puerto Rican Drag Racing Big Rigs Fly Into The 12s – We Need More Of This Here!

I know you’re yelling at your screen right now that we DO have a vibrant scene of guys with heavy iron who enjoy running their trucks down drag strips but it is different here. The first video below shows a pair of legitimately fast drag rigs that are running into the 12-second zone. That rules and we love every second of it. The SECOND video though is the one that I want your opinion on because this is where the true genius of the Puerto Rican scene shines through. The second video features a pair of trucks running in the 15s and that may sound lame but it is far from it.

These guys basically bought old tired fleet trucks, shortened them up, stripped everything that was not necessary off of them and probably did little more than hot rod the injection pump to get them running the elapsed times that they are running. You can buy trucks like this for less than 5-grand here in the states and before you go nuts and scream that it would be impossible to move around, I did the research when the Champ truck series was coming out and a rig like this would tow fine behind your one ton truck and maybe even a three quarter ton. When you take all the “extra” stuff away you end up with a pretty light sled!

I think it would be awesome to build a truck like the ones you see in the second video but go a little harder core with it. More turbo, lots more fuel, throw some tractor pulling stuff at it and get the thing into the 12s or 13s and then bracket race it on a weekly basis. There’s nothing in the books that says you can’t right? How about making a mile speed run in one of those things? I bet all in you could have a truck like that which was stupid fast, stone reliable, and pretty portable for less than 15 grand if you were smart with your money. My life’s mission has just been revealed right in front of you. Boom goes the dynamite.

A couple years before Fremont closed they ran some truck drags, at one event it was hot out (90s/100s), the trucks weight torn the track up—no more truck drags at Fremont
