Watch This Race Pull A Massive Wheelstand At The Dutch Classic And Power Through The Run Like A Boss

They don’t always turn out this good, but when they do it is true poetry in motion. This video was taken last weekend at the Dutch Classic, one of the great sportsman drag races in the world. “The Dutch” as it is known around the country has been contested for more than four decades at Maple Grove Raceway and it is made up of virtually every sportsman class you can think up. By the looks of this video, it appears that event NETO (The North East Timing Association) was in the house running an index style race among all of the traditional NHRA class categories. Best we can tell, this Chevelle took flight during that contest. One of our favorite things about the video is watching the helmet of the guy in the Mustang opposing the Chevelle. That dude had a front row seat and he took advantage of it, look at him in the screen capture below. You can nearly hear him saying, “Holy….”

Like we always saw about videos like these, this isn’t the quick way down the track and lots of energy gets lost in standing the car up as opposed to moving it forward right off the hit of the throttle but you’d have to be some kind of jerk to miss the entertainment value in this show. The fact that the guy lands it perfectly and hammers the car to a low 10-second lap after all of the high flying fun makes it even better.

Lewis Bloom, NHRA’s “stat guy” was working the announcing end of this race and you can hear him in the background of this run.

  1. Grippo

This was the final of the 10.00 Index class which is a new addition to the NHRA Division 1 Open series along with 8.50 and 11.50 classes , heads-up with a break out on a .500 Pro Tree. Brian Correll is in the Mustang taking the win and watching Vinny Laurita airing it out in the Chevelle. It was something to see.
