There’s a syndrome that befalls even the most hardcore of hot rodders. That is the paralysis by too may adjustments that comes with adding lots of cool parts to your car. There’s the carb or the EFI that can be endlessly tweaked. You can mess with the ignition, the rev limiter, the two step, the tire pressure, the four link, and especially the shocks if you have adjustable ones. The strange thing about adjustable shocks is that loads of people bolt them in and then never actually touch them again. What the what?
Part of that we’re sure is the fear of messing up what was otherwise a good riding car. Well the guys from QA1 have made this cool video that talks about how to make adjustments to their MOD series shocks but in a lot of ways the advice they give goes way past just these particular units. The best line in the whole video is “we didn’t build a shock that is going to blow up if you test it out…” which is 100% truth. There is no shame in going all the way one way or the other before settling on where you wan it. That’s why the knobs are there!
Whether you are a drag racer or a road racer/auto-crosser, this is valuable stuff because the shocks are the brains of what makes your car get down the strip, make the corner faster, or get you comfortably around town. This is good stuff.
