A Week In The Racing Life Of Andy Frost – Cool Documentary Film Shows A Behind The Scenes Look At Racing Red Victor 3

A Week In The Racing Life Of Andy Frost – Cool Documentary Film Shows A Behind The Scenes Look At Racing Red Victor 3

I just spent the last 50-minutes watching the full length documentary film about Andy Frost that is sitting on the page below and I recommend that you do the same. Why? Well for starters it is an inside look at Frost’s car, his team, and how they operate at the drags. This video was made in 2013 at the FIA “Main Event” race which is held at Santa Pod in England. Shane Tecklenburg, the well known tuner is the lead guy on Frosts’s car with regard to the tweaking of the EFI system and turbocharging system. He’s the “lead” in this film and acts as not only a narrator at times but also as a bit of a “tour guide” into the drag racing scene in Europe when he talks candidly about the tracks, the competition, and the scarcity of opportunities to run the car as opposed to here in the USA. Make no mistake, that is NOT meant to sound insulting or derogatory toward drag racing in Europe, but there is a difference and it needs to be recognized.

There’s lots of “controversy” between the quick street car guys here in the ‘States and Andy’s program. We’d venture to say that most of it has been drummed up by the guys here and Andy has responded (respectfully) when prodded. It is a game of ego and performance. From our seats, it is fun as hell to watch and pay attention to. As you will see in the video Frost and his guys work hard and in this particular case, there was a brand new engine in the car which had a couple of foibles that needed to be sorted out. Ultimately, they get the car down the track and actually beat their own personal bests (which are the current “records” for a street legal car).

Like every year, this whole cross ocean rivalry gets cranked up around the time that the buzz on Hot Rod Magazine Drag Week rises to a fever pitch. There have been Drag Week guys starting to talk in (not so?) quiet tones about chasing Andy’s records and all, but to this point all it has been is talk. We’re not saying that there won’t be a guy here in the USA that can run 6.40 like Andy has, but no one’s done it yet. Will it happen in 2014? Time will tell.

We know one thing. If you watch this film from front to back, you’ve got no choice to respect Andy Frost’s efforts on the track and the dedication he has into that car. The film talks about the evolution and decades of blood, sweat, and tears, that have been invested in each iteration of the Red Victor. Whether you “believe” that he is the king of the street legal hill or not, you’ve got no choice to agree that he’s one hell of a hot rodder and racer.

Flame away…if you must.

I watched it on the weekend, and it is an excellent documentary! And for the haters that are sure to post here, keep in mind Andy’s car was built specifically to be a Pro Mod car that also happens to be street legal – not a daily driver street car that also happens to be ludicrously quick – there is a distinction.

It is an amazing car and his dedication to its evolution is admirable BUT i didnt see anything that would lead me to believe he could survive drag week much less win it………..sadly we will probably never know but when you have the title “quickest street car in the world” people are going to take shots at you especially when drag week guys are in the same zip code performance wise but have proven their “road worthiness”……….as a fan i would love to see the ultimate shootout, Larson/Frost/Bailey/Lutz on DW………..
