This 1967 Buick Skylark GS400 Is A True Buick From Front To Back And 100% BangShift Approved – Buy It!

Oh man is this car good. This is one of those cars that we find on eBay and then nervously scan the photos for some sort of horrifying gaffe in the build, the engine choice, a stray limb poking out of the headliner, something that will mess up our love fest. Guess what? There’s nothing about this car that we’d throw rocks at. The black paint is killer, the stance is bang on, the suspension is just woken up enough to make it fun to drive, the transmission is a proper gear jammer, the interior is minto, and the engine is a 464ci, 600hp Buick monster that would make you a player at grudge night on your local strip. This car is pretty much our ultimate Buick street machine. It has all that great late 1960s Buick styling and the modifications chosen by the owner did nothing to take away from that look or heritage.

Real Buick fans may remember that this car was featured in Popular Hot Rodding back in the day as well. Rightfully so because cars like this are kind of unique these days, right? The fact that it actually has a Buick plant in it makes the car for us (that along with the manual transmission). We know how much cheaper it would have been to put an LS or a big block Chevy or whatever other common engine in there but it would have lost all the character! The bidding on this car will close in the next day and at this writing the highest bid it just over $28,000 and it has not met reserve yet. We’re guessing the reserve is somewhere in the 40K range but that is a blind guess. In the event it disappears we’re putting the text of the ad below.

Here’s the text of the ad –

Black Widow 1 originally built by George Papadopoulos.

This fast & fun street machine combines the best of classic styling with modern performance. Pro-built and featured in Popular Hot Rodding magazine, this car has a long list of upgrades that make it one of the best pro-touring Buicks on the road.

First of all, this is a real GS400, not a clone car. It is powered by a Stage 1 Automotive built 464 inch Buick engine with TA Performance stage 1 aluminum heads and 11:1 compression (approximately 600hp). A Hydraulic roller cam feeds air and fuel from an Edelbrock aluminum intake and finely tuned AED Performance Holley Carb, pushing exhaust through a custom built set of stainless headers and complete stainless Mandrel-Bent exhaust from Kooks. There is less than 2,000 miles on the engine build. A tremec TKO 5-speed and built 3.73 ratio posi 12-bolt rear axle put power to the wheels.

Ride control is upgraded substantially with a complete Hotchkis tubular control arm set with Edelbrock high performance shocks and Hotchkis springs. Wilwood disc brakes hide behind Budnik Fontana wheels in 17X8 front and 17X9.5″ rear. Upgraded sway bars front & rear control the roll and the stance is just right.

The laser straight black paint is the result of a bare-metal re-spray and looks great.
Since being featured in PHR the complete Kooks exhaust system ($6,000) was added and the engine was rebuilt. All receipts are retained and this car is currently ready to be your reliable driver.

Keep in mind this car was originally equipped with factory air conditioning, and retains all those parts from the firewall back. Air conditioning could be finished and working again by adding a compressor, condenser and hoses.

Wow, real nice car. Kind of sad he didn’t keep the super-cool, one year-only dual snorkel air cleaner, but that’s really minor.

There are so many cool details in this car. I ended up stepping away and returning to it just to see what I may have glossed over.

    Very nice car!

Nice car. I put it in my garage if the price was a bit lower. $32,998 and the reserve hasn’t been met?

I remember when I had my ’67 Skylark him looking around for rare trim items and being one of the go too guys for any information on V8Buick.com

    Amazing car!

Not sure if this is the same car I owned in the 90’s in Ohio. Looks exact though. Been looking for it. Wished I never sold it.
