BangShifter Scott Inman shot us a note with the link to this thoroughly mangled 2015 Z/28 Camaro. This is one of the few and the proud 2015 Z/28s to be produced and it has been reduced to a pile of crumpled sheet metal, broken plastic, and munched aluminum. By all accounts the radio and the one speaker are still working perfectly, though. While we’re not sure that the car went all the way over in what had to be an incredible high speed wreck, it definitely punched something VERY hard head on before getting up on the driver’s side.
In looking at the IAAI.com listing for this car, it does list the collision type as rollover. After that everything we can come up with is conjecture. The impact was enough the explode every airbag in the thing and hopefully those bags and the seat belts saved the occupant or occupants in what must have been one hell of a ride. We’re not sure if this car was part of the initial 500 car run or the ensuing 2,500 car run that Chevrolet produced. Either way, this is a very rare modern rocket that was gushed over by every media outlet and race driver that had a shot at the pedals and the wheel. It tangled with Porsches and other exotics and came out even or ahead. When these cars were introduced with their $75,000 asking price, people freaked out. They sold ’em all before they were even produced so it was a smashing success for GM…no pun intended.
We’re not sure what other parts of the rare driveline and body can be reused in a hot rod build outside of the engine and transmission but there’s got to be some value here. right? After all the first destroyed Hellcat is going to auction and people are freaking out about that one, too.
What would you use from this carcass?
