2018 Cynthiana Rod Run Photo Coverage: From Eddie Munster To Sweet Supras, This Show Was Packed

2018 Cynthiana Rod Run Photo Coverage: From Eddie Munster To Sweet Supras, This Show Was Packed

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – Back with more from the annual Cynthiana Rod Run.  This year the number of cars topped 1,600 registered and we saw plenty come and go without heading to the registration tent.  There is a lot to take in at this community/county event.  Plenty of food, live music, shopping, arm wrestling, eating contests and more.  We’ve never gotten bored walking around checking things out.

This gallery has plenty of variety with photos of imports, rods, and more.  The celebrity attraction at this event was Butch Patrick who played ‘Eddie Munster’ on the TV show The Munsters.  He brought his own re-creations of the Munster Coach and Dragula.  Butch was on hand to sign autographs and showcase the cars.  There’s no staff helping him with these appearances as he was hands-on doing everything, chatting with attendees, and getting to see some of the rides folks brought out.  He seemed to be thoroughly impressed with how well the event is produced and the turnout while still being such a relatively young (6 years) deal.

The ’40 Tudor in front of the mural depicting Kentucky basketball coaching legend, Joe B. Hall, was one of my favorites of the event.  Another favorite is the supercharged Studebaker Avanti.  I can’t really explain my attraction to Avantis, but they are certainly exotic-looking and this one was ‘just right’.

Stay tuned for more from the Rod Run and we hope you enjoy the photos.

I remember that Fairmont from Drag Week. They managed to lose the air cleaner lid and ran part of the event with an oil drain pan ziptied on.

That car show has quite a variety. I’ve seen car shows that could pull in cars from every era before, but you don’t see ones that draw both this variety and this level of quality.

They built that car for two events. Drag week and the burn outs at the Cynthiana Rod Run. Good guy that owns it. 501 big block if I remember right.
