Is There Really A Shot America Gets A BMW M-Series Wagon? It Won’t Be From A Lack Of Trying!

Is There Really A Shot America Gets A BMW M-Series Wagon? It Won’t Be From A Lack Of Trying!

(By Tom Lohnes) – Ever since last year when BMW teased the M3 touring, us Americans just kind of accepted that the closest thing to a long-roofed M car with a 3 in the name would be the X3M. Well, about 10,000 people have signed a petition to try and get BMW to bring it stateside.

If this all works out, we’ll have about the coolest car BMW has ever made at our ready disposal. The new M4/M4 have just entered dealerships, and people say the driving experience more than makes up for the controversial front end that I personally think looks quite good on the M cars. Likely, the wagon wouldn’t be mechanically different, which isn’t a bad thing, considering the base model has 479 horsepower, RWD, and a manual transmission, which would make this 5-seater an absolute riot to drive. Upgrade to the competition model, and you are granted with an 8-speed auto, optional AWD, and a boost to 503 horsepower. All of these help the standard M3 sedan reach 60 in a rather quick 3.6 seconds.

So, would you get an M3 wagon? Even if it’s not a full mass-produced vehicle here, BMW could do the same thing as Audi and their RS 6 Avant program, and have them only available as custom-ordered vehicles. It’ll be a slow seller, but god would it be cool.

I happen to love station wagons. I like the looks of this too. I would daily drive it if I could afford it.
