(By Tom Lohnes) – The Alfa Romeo 4C was the Italian brand’s entry back into America, and was a world-class sports car with its high-strung turbo-4, stripped out interior, and lack of power steering, along with its perfectly square dimensions, created a fantastic driving experience. Sadly, the 4C is coming to an end, and going out in style.
With 33 examples up for grabs, the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo combines the pure essence of the 4C, in this case the Spider variant, and the brutal V8 racecar that was the 33 Stradale. With this package comes a new paint color, Rosso Competitizione, carbon-fiber trim, and beautiful bronze-tinted wheels, this ultra-limited special edition is the 4C to get. With a. 1.7-liter Turbo 4-banger making 237 horsepower, a 6-speed DCT, carbon-fiber tub, and RWD, this 2,487-pound roadster gets around really well. Inside, the same blast-from-the-past alpine stereo remains, but carbon-fiber bucket seats are new. The same square steering wheel is there, along with the compact digital gauge cluster, and almost no sound deadening so you can hear that turbo-4 screaming up to it’s 7,250 RPM redline.
The 4C was never really cheap, with a $67,450 starting price, and the special edition doesn’t help that. Costing $81,500, you better snatch one up quick, because when they’re gone, they’re gone.
