(By Tom Lohnes) – Dodge has just teased their first EV, and it looks like they carried all of the muscle from the Charger and Challenger into a battery-electric package perfectly.
We don’t know a ton of details on the new Dodge yet, but Stellantis just had their “EV day”, where they teased and unveiled a lot of electric vehicles, but none of them stood out as much as this Dodge. Styled like a more modern late 1960’s Charger, the new EV will not replace any of the gas models, just add a way quicker addition to the fleet of already ridiculous car. There is only one target in mind that I can think of for this project, and that is the 9.23-second ¼-mile record recently set by the Tesla Model S Plaid. Dodge held the previous production car record for nearly 3 years with their Demon, so I bet they want it back.
A few things we do actually know are that there are going to be multiple versions, the top likely bearing an SRT badge, and all of them will have over 500 miles of range on the battery.
Dodge was really smart in ho they delivered this message. They went straight to their fanbase and spoke that dedicated core with this message of performance over virtue signaling on behalf of the planet. To me, that’s why people have not really freaked out over this.
Watch out Tesla, a new challenger is in town.
