Watch Joe Escobar’s Pinto Tear Up The Goodguys Autocross

We love Joe Escobar’s Pinto. The thing is ultra clean, completely home built, and the owner is as cool as the car. Over the years, Joe has slowly tweaked this thing with more tire, some suspension parts from Ridetech, sticky tires from Falken, Baer brake upgrades, and finally after much coaxing, TURBO POWER! This Pinto is the original Hot Hatch, and hauls the mail thanks to 16+ lbs of boost running through the 2.3 liter overhead cam four cylinder. Totally BangShift Approved.

The two videos below show different angles of the car running around the Goodguys Autocross last weekend in Pleasanton and are super fun to watch. If you’ve watched Autocross from the sidelines you know that it doesn’t look all that fast. Well, watch how much is going on in this little car on it’s way to low 70 second laps.

One other cool thing in the videos is the Pinto slot car sitting on the dash. Joe says, “You like the little Pinto rolling back and forth? Its an HO car that has a magnet so it just slides around on the guide pin for the track…”

Thanks Joe for sending them to us!

    1. The little toy Pinto on the dash managed to hang on there the whole run? Was it secured by a thread or something?

    2. They let him run with a loose toy car on the dash?

OK, so those things just distracted me a bit, but that was a cool car and a great run.
