SU Times Two: The Hagerty 1965 Mini Build Gets Its SU Carbs Restored To Brand New Condition

Davin is hustling right along with one of the smallest displacement projects he has worked on a part of the Redline Rebuild series. This time it’s an update on the induction and valvetrain sides of his 1965 1275cc Mini engine build. The tiny mill uses a pair of SU carbs and they were in need of a refresh and rebuild to match the fresh nature of the rest of the components on and in the engine. Secondly there was the matter of getting some of the valvetrain parts restored as well. We’re talking about the rocker shafts and their collective components.

There are some handy tips and tricks in here and there’s at least one piece of equipment we want for our own home shop…the tumbler! The cleaning job that the tumbler does is amazing and it brings us right back to being a kid with a rock tumbler when we were little. But that is another story for another day.

With all the sub systems completed, the next episode should show the whole works going together. The transmission is done, head is done, ancillaries are complete….time to go! You’ll dig this episode. Watch –
