We got a tip on what could be the nicest General Lee replica currently for sale in the universe right now and boy, the guy who sent it was not kidding. This car is pristine. No, it was not used on the show but it was built but a guy who went full kill in the accuracy department making sure that it was built as though it did. Maybe it is because we’re children of the 1980s but the reality is that there’s no more iconic TV car for our generation than this one.
Yeah, KITT was cool but that was more in the technology sense. The car from Viper had its day in the sun, the A-Team van certainly brought us smiles, but the General Lee had a presence and aura all of its own. The thing was like a living member of the cast and each week we’d watch it get slogged through streams, jumped over construction sites, hammered through the dirt, and beaten to a pulp in the name of sticking it to the man. The best part was that next week it was as bright and shiny as it had been before getting the stuffing knocked out of it the week before.
Lots of guys have done a General Lee over the years and done it by painting a Charger orange and calling it good enough. This car has the right wheels, all of the numbers and the flag are painted on, it has a nice healthy 44oci engine making the noise under the hood, and the interior is literally spot on. Reportedly this guy has a whip antenna for the car but because the paint is so good he has not mounted it on the trunk yet. Even the roll bar is done in the proper way, much to the chagrin of backseat passengers.
For those of the keen eyed Mopar loving readers out there you may notice that like lots of cars on the show this one started as a 1968 version and has been updated to a 1969 using the same process they would have used back then. Oh, we forgot to mention that the car has been signed by all the members of the cast that were alive a few years ago, so virtually everyone.

The car from Viper? Which I guess was a Viper. How about the K W from BJ and the bear? I always thought the K W and the General would have made a great special episode! They would have went against Sheriff Lobo and Boss Hog at the same time!
I’m sure this one is cleaner than any General Lee actually used on the show. Very impressive.
Someone please buy this, and remove every trace of the Dukes from it. I don’t care that this would reduce the value of it. I hate that the show destroyed so many original Chargers beyond repair, removing them from the hands of true enthusiasts.
Hot Rod reported a few years ago that the number was only 174. And it’s not like they were all that good to begin with!
I guarantee teenagers killed more Chargers than this show ever did.
Thers a guy here in Washington that owns a real General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard with a paper trail to prove it. He gets more attention than anybody else at car shows. Its pretty sweet.
