It has been a while since we’ve heard about the Hagerty CT70 bike restoration project. Those little machines are some of the most coveted in the pits of any race track and certainly people who owned one as a kid have been helping to drive prices through the roof! Anyway, the Hagerty crew is on it again and in this video we get to see the machine work done with the tiny engine to make it suitable for rebuilding. The fact that the exhaust valve has the same diameter as a nickel made us smile.
This isn’t just some straight up rebuild though, there’s some performance enhancement as well! How about a performance cam! As hilarious as that sounds, they actually sent the stock cam to Delta cams for it to be checked and during that process the crew at Delta decided to work their magic and add a little duration to the program.
This is a fun video because the engine is so comically small. At one point Davin tells the machinist not to hold the piston long because it’ll change sizes due to the heat of his hand!
