If you have ever started a project and never finished it, like THAT ever happens to any of us, don’t feel bad. Why? Gearheads have been doing it for more than 100 years as evidenced by this amazingly well preserved partially built Model T Ford racer project. How do we know or how does the seller know it was going to be a racer? Well the engine has been moved back a foot and a half for starters, an auxiliary transmission has been added, and the chassis has been modified. The major motor movement required everything to be changed or shortened and that is where the good ship race car seems to have run aground as the torque tube may have been the sticking point with the original builder.

The seller talks about how cars like this were raced on horse tracks and in fields back in the day and they are 100% right. Cars like this are also why loads of guys died racing back then because as you can see, there is a wooden bench seat and that is about it in terms of the “driver’s area”. We’re not sure if this thing would have had a riding mechanic but we suspect not. The gas tank relocation to the nose is awesome as well and frankly is probably safer than having it in the cowl or under the seat, right?

This hunk has lived in Montana for the majority of its life and that’s why it has not rotted to a pulp. There’s massive work to be done here but it strikes us as a remarkable project that a talented builder could either finish in a period style of perhaps add modern hot rodding touches.

What do you think?
