Porsche’s Punchy Panamera Packs Prodigious Power, Pretty Prolific Price Tag

(By Tom Lohnes) – The new Porsche Panamera is out, and it packs a punch along with a steep price tag.

Starting at just over $100,000, the new Panamera is meant to compete with other high-model four-door fastbacks such as the BMW 8-series, Mercedes CLS and GT 4-door models, and Audi’s A7/S7/RS7, all of which are cheaper than the Panamera. The base V6 Panamera is RWD, has 390 horsepower, and an 8-speed PDK DCT. Upgrade to the GTS and you step up to a 456-horsepower Twin-Turbo 4.0-liter V8 and AWD. The PDK is still the only transmission.

I would also like to note that the Panamera also offers a cool wagon version that costs about $10,000 over the normal one. Step up one more than the GTS, and you have the Panamera Turbo. Using the same V8 as the GTS, the turbo has 550 horsepower and can do 60 in 3.4 seconds. The price now is around $150,000. Also, there is a long-wheelbase Panamera called the Executive that is $5,000 more than the Turbo. Now, all of that should be the top, right? Well, no. New for this refresh, the Turbo S joins the fleet, and it has 605 horsepower, AWD, and goes 3.3 seconds to 60. This car also set the “executive sedan” Nürburgring time record. And finally that is the top dog Panamera

So, this is a cool car with a lot of options. If you had to get one trim level, what would it be? For me, it’s the GTS wagon.

Much appreciated such a great amount for this data. I need to tell you I agree on a few of the focuses you make here and others might require some further survey, however I can see your perspective.
