Richard Petty Brings 1967 Plymouth Stock Car To Goodwood To Make Beautiful Noise With

Richard Petty brought out his 1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.  Out of all of the cars in the Petty Museum to bring to the track, King Richard picked the GTX, which helped with his 27/48 record and ten-wins-in-a-row year, to make the journey over to Britain. Brakes, oil, and battery were the only things checked and/or changed before Petty took the big blue Plymouth up the hill in a fairly leisurely pace. But when you’ve got the kind of track record that this particular car has, nothing has to be proved.

Whether screaming off the banks or having a cruise up a hill, that Hemi sounds absolutely amazing. I can’t say any more…press play and just enjoy that noise.

needed more, absolutely wonderfully weird seeing that car at Goodwood, what NeckCar cars should look like (with modern safety inside)

My back hurts every time I see how Richard sat in his cars to race. See how he is almost leaning forward with his knees in chest? Ugh. I’d last 15 minutes like that.

That’s probably a million dollar car and he is right that it is probably the most winning car in Nascar’s history.
