As the season of racing across American limbers up and gets great to start going great guns, we have been seeking out more and more cool in-car videos. In this case we got our hands on an in-buggy video that features an awesome run around the famed Mile O’ Mud in Florida by the Pressure’s On swamp buggy. There are times in this film where we had to remind ourselves that we were not watching a racing boat on the water! We think that it is pretty wild to watch the tach and understand that the engine in this thing (which has gotta be a big block) is basically running at between six and seven thousand RPM the entire time that the buggy is on the course.
This is a good run for the buggy and driver as we never see another vehicle in front of him. It looks like he has the prime qualifying position on the “grid” as we watch him get lined up by the flagman. The secondary flag guy starts the race and as soon as his arm moves, this driver is off like a shot. We never so much as see any spray off of another buggy and he’s the first man back up on the beach headed for the pits. We’re thinking that he croaked the competition during this race. We’re not sure if this was a heat race or a feature race but either way, when you come in first you know you’re doing something right.
One thing we did notice is that this buggy does not seem to care at all about the famed ‘Sippi hole that slows down lower horsepower rigs. Nope, the tach does not even move as this thing storms down the straights.
