There are certain things that literally cut across all the boundary lines of the automotive world. Things that hot rodders, european car enthusiasts, truck guys, and racers alike can appreciate. One of them is honesty and what we mean by that is the fact that some cars we can look at and see that they are what we know them to be. Nothing hiding, no gremlins, no bad surprises. Not a classic Ford with an LS engine, just a classic Ford with all of its dignity and wear on its surface. The other thing is real weathering. Not fake patina, or stuff that is made to look old, but the actual effects of Mother Nature on an automobile.
If you don’t believe us, watch this Petrolicious video that tells the story of a weather worn, rusty, and kind of crusty 1972 Porsche 911S. The thing is so original that it is amazing. It was found in Japan by a guy who runs a Porsche restoration business in England. He brought it home, made it less death trappy, and loves every second he gets to spend behind the wheel.
The owner’s favorite thing about the car is that it is a Japanese market car that has weird options like a heated front windshield, other interesting options, and the fact that it is as honest a driving experience as a Porsche enthusiast can get in a car of this era.
What a life this little car has lived and what a life it has yet to go.
