Angry Little Brother: The 2021 McLaren Artura May Play Second Fiddle To The 765LT But Other Than That? Little Else.

Angry Little Brother: The 2021 McLaren Artura May Play Second Fiddle To The 765LT But Other Than That? Little Else.

(By Tom Lohnes) – The recent achievement of the absolutely bonkers Mclaren 765LT running a 9.33-second quarter mile completely stock sort of overshadowed the debut of its little brother, the Artura. Well, specs are revealed for the Artura, and things are looking up.

With 671 horsepower, 553 lb-ft of torque, and a groundbreaking hybrid system, the Mclaren Artura blends the Grand Touring aspect of the aptly named Mclaren GT, and the crazy acceleration of the 720S and 765LT. On the acceleration aspect, the Artura is rated at 3.0. seconds to 60, 8.2 to 100, and a quarter mile time of 10.5 seconds. Take these numbers with a grain of salt, however, because the aforementioned 765LT was rated at 2.5/7.1/9.9, and it severely outperformed every one of those numbers.

So, do you have $271,000 to spare for an Artura? I sure wish I did, because once this thing enters production, it is predicted to take the 570S’s crown as best-selling in the Mclaren lineup. My predictions for the numbers? I’d say 2.7 to 60, 7.8 to 100, and a 10.4-second ¼. But, now all we can do is wait to see the real numbers.

Funny McLaren story, leaving a car show last Sat. I ended up in front of a 720S getting on the freeway, did a 6000rpm pull though 1st,2nd,3rd (my V8MGB is pretty sporty), the 720S comes flying up next to me, edges to 80 then 90, I’m next to him, he hammers it, it was glorious and he was gone. YEP, I believe the performance figures.
