This Boss 429 Powered, Highly Whacked Out Jaguar XKE Is Like Nothing We Have Ever Seen

This Boss 429 Powered, Highly Whacked Out Jaguar XKE Is Like Nothing We Have Ever Seen

So one day back in 1967 over in Coventry, England a beautiful XKE rolled out under the sunlight, err, it rolled out of the factory. Because it is sunny for like 15 minutes a year in England it may have been a different day but weather aside the 1967 XKE rolled from the factory as one of the most beautiful cars ever built. Fast forward to 2015 and that car, that beautiful piece of near rolling sculpture, has been transformed into something that we don’t yet as a human race have a name for. A wildly modified body, a Boss 429 engine under the hood, massive custom wheels on the corner, and an interior that is not fit to be shown on the internet later and you have whatever this car is. Undoubtedly there is hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars and thousands of man hours invested in this car but the end product is just so crazy we’re not sure we can get on board.

The Boss 429 we love. It is just the stuff that is holding up and surrounding the engine that is giving us problems at this point. To be more specific it is everything minus the 429 that is giving us problems at the moment. We’re going tongues that the car was done sometime in the, hell we can’t even do that. The wheels have a 1990s vibe to them and from what we can see of the interior it also seems to date from that period but we cannot say for sure. Just the thought of making an XKE “better” makes us sweat a little. The original XKE is one of the great shapes ever draped over four wheels and an engine.

The asking price is $85,000 and here’s the entirety of the ad:

1967 Jaguar XKE custom designed, complete fabrication done by original owner. Original convertible, has a Boss 429 motor that gives it a ground pounding effect. Custom built rims, steering wheel and much more.Car runs and has a non-op registration. Full payment required upon vehicle pickup.

The fabrication on the suspension and other pieces of the car is amazing. Nothing on the car is done poorly but the final look is just so far out there we’re thinking that the target market is pretty small…and lives in South Florida.

We don’t normally run two eBay cars in the day but this one needed to be shown!

    What – no LS?

Perfect engine choice as Jaguar was once owned by Ford. But how I wish that this beauty had been based on the coupe rather than the convertible as the amazingly high standard of body mods would have brought that body close to perfection. I love the headlights though – they could be fitted to any E-type especially the Series ll onwards.

    Well done!

Can you make the car any more ugly! It looks like a catfish or carp, both bottom feeders! Can’t believe he used Miata headlight, oh the humanity!

OK, valve stems on the inside of the wheel? Even though it’s not even part of the overall car, and the easiest thing to swap out, that one little detail’s enough: this thing sucks. It’s just a show car, and was never meant to be driven. Not my thing.

More evidence of the show only status is the drum brakes. Would you drive a car with a monster engine like this, and depend on 70 year old brake technology to stop it?

Drum brakes? Those are wheel hubs, if it’s the last photo you’re referring to.

Oh… and the car is a perfect example of the fact that some people, no matter how talented with the english wheel, shouldn’t attempt to “improve” the design of a car. That’s just a bunch of out of proportion modifications, for the sake of modification… and flames!? Sersiously?

I’m sure the craftmanship is out of this world, but next time talk to someone who has an eye for design.

Jaguars actual have very good brakes and a lot better than you’ll find on possibly all american cars of same age and maybe some of today’s cars. The rears have inboard disc as well and not drums.

I personally not a fan of the car, but good on the guy for having go

Wouldn’t want to get caught in the rain in that thing. Not only is the engine bay open to mother nature, but did anybody notice the wipers have been deleted.

Brendan M said he wouldn’t want to get caught in the rain in this thing? I wouldn’t want to be caught in public driving this hideous piece of crap! Maybe he’s worried about “Lucas Disease” regarding the rain thing. What a waste of an awesome Boss 9. Besides, everyone knows, an LS motor would fit way better under that (original) long, flat hood. Maybe Painless makes a kit to replace that horrible UK wiring harness… Kill this thing with fire, (after removing the motor, of course).

If that was done by the original owner as stated, he was probably suffering through the era where that was not a particularly valuable car nor seen to be good-looking…maybe he was just tired of it…he started doing his thing and never quit. Good for him, he may now be past the age where he cares much about what other people think anyhow, if he’s still around at all. It is an amazing car, if a bit cartoonish.

I never cared for E-Types…’til I was nineteen and had borrowed one, and there was that girl at the bus stop…anyhow, they did have their value.
