This Close Encounter Between A Bicyclist And A Snow Plow Results In Swearing – You Make The Call!

Imagine if you gave decided to go on a mountain bike ride after a light snow has fallen in the countryside area in which you live. You are tooling down a narrow little farm road, approaching a blind corner and then WOAH! SNOWPLOW! That is exactly the situation that presents itself in this video and what happens from that point forward is the interesting stuff.

The guy on the bike dives to the right and seeks whatever cover he can. The guy in the little plowing rig slams on the brakes and grinds to a halt in the road and then they start sniping at each other. Now, both guys have their adrenaline up and pumping like crazy after that situation. Obviously the bicycle guy thinks the plow guy was going too fast up the road and the plow guy thinks the bicycle guy is a jerk because he was zipping down this snowy road on his bike.

We’re not taking sides on this one and we’re going to let you guys and girls battle it out in the comment section. Some things to consider. Being that the corner is blind, perhaps both guys should have used a little more caution when approaching it. Is this a one way road? It is definitely not wide enough for two cars or trucks that is for sure. Who was traveling in the right direction? The bicycle rider sure has some skills because many of us would have locked the brakes, dumped the bike, and ended up sliding into the plow or worse.

To us, this is a tough call because it is hard to judge the speed of the plow coming around the bend off of the helmet of the bike rider. I know we have some very hardcore bicycling enthusiasts in the reading audience and I am interested to hear their take on this one. GO!

Cyclists are a disease on our roads and should be wiped out at every opportunity – death by snow plough would have been sooooo cool!

The snow plow had the right of way, the “biker bros” were riding in the middle of the narrow road, and acting in the typical biker way taking up the road then bitching that car and truck drivers need to “share the road” with them when they don’t share the road with cars and trucks.
Geordie, you need to see the movie “Natural Born Killers”, you would enjoy how they took care of a bicyclist in the movie.

To bad the biker didn’t end up as a stain on the plow blade. Most of those clowns who ride two wheels have no respect for traffic laws and think they own the road. When they hang a licence plate on their ass and pay road and fuel taxes they can have part of the road, until that day they should stay clear of motorized traffic.

Cyclist do have the right to half the road .Early cyclist were the reason the first roads were paved in the state of Indiana . We had roads before we had cars . That said , part of pushing snow is momentum. Part of riding a bike is momentum. Riding a 2 wheeler in the snow on the road is inherently dangerous . While the cyclist could hear the plow there is no way the plow guy could hear the bike . It was at least 50 / 50 fault. If it had of happened the guy in the truck would get the blame in court .

Despise these \”share the road\” bicyclists. They should be required to have flags like in the dunes so they can be seen. Then they should get the hell out of the way when a vehicle needs by. There\’s many times those stupid cross country cycles have hogged more than their share of two lane highway causing me to jam the brakes to avoid a head-on while trying to pass them. It wouldn\’t be so bad, but their all such self absorbed twats.

Yeah, and if they want to ride on public roads and highways, require them to have insurance, license, state inspections, taxes, and everything else that required to be able to legally be on public roads.

Thought this was my chance to go off on adult bicyclists and rant about what asses they are but have to get in back of line. Even better!!!!

If that video had shown the blade cutting the guy in half I’d do a screen shot and make it poster size for my garage!

If the plow had been going ‘too fast’ as the cyclist was claiming, this could have been much worse. As it is, the plow stopped almost in his tracks, on an icy road.

Cyclists have the right to the road, but as others have said, their attitude annoys everyone else.

I don’t give a crap what you’re driving/riding, public service vehicles have the right of way. The plow has to go at a certain speed to move the snow and keep momentum. The cyclist’s are asses.

Okay so now I’ll say it – so you brain trusts – you realize that this bicycle is on a dedicated bike trail?

so please take all your venom and please, shove it up your collective tails. You really are a bunch of morons. I’d respond to the idiot from the UK – but as he’s in a has-been kingdom full of muslims… they’ll blow themselves up soon and we’ll be done with them allah akbar tea sipper.

    Have a terrible day

Since the flags on the plow weren’t even moving I would call bullshit on the “too fast” claim. As for the bones, they went out on a road, even of it was a bike path, after newly fallen snow so you have to have some expectation of road crews.
