We have heard about the people that convert old bumper cars into actual running and driving automobiles but we’re not sure this 1947 Auto Lusse bumper car crossed with a Kawasaki ATV was done by them or not. Whoever did it has imagination and skills galore because the work is amazing and while it looks a little gawky because of the stance, it all still works, right? The thing looks like it’ll seat one person or two extremely underfed people in a pinch. The controls have been converted into standard car stuff with a steering wheel, pedals, and what looks to be gearshift in the center. It has “headlights” although we’re not sure that they operate. if it had tail lights would it have the ability to earn a license plate and drive the streets in a state like Michigan? We don’t think it would pass muster in Massachusetts where we are but then again, this place is crud when it comes to that type of stuff.
The 1947 Lusse Auto Skooter body is mounted on the frame and running gear of a 2000 Kawasaki Lakota 300. We have read that those things will run at like 55mph flat out in stock form so with the added aero drag and the near certainty of death at driving the contraption at that speed, we think that 40mph is a pretty safe number for cruising speed. That means it will own secondary roads like no one’s business. It could be a little on the top heavy side, depending on the heft of the driver but ultimately can you imagine the fun you’d have harassing the neighborhood in this? The classic styling of the old bumper car body is amazing. From the chrome work to the two-tone paint, that really is a looker. The interior is professionally trimmed and as wacky as this thing is, no expense was spared when building it.
We could see this machine being a lot of mind bending fun. Can you?
