This Hemi Prowler Is A Cruiser We’d Kill To Own – Coulda Had A V8!

This Hemi Prowler Is A Cruiser We’d Kill To Own – Coulda Had A V8!

There were many things legitimately awesome about the Plymouth Prowler when they were made. The simple fact that the car was even produced in the first place was a triumph of people with passion over people who count beans for a living. The styling, the look, the ethos of the thing was spot on. Unfortunately the 3.5L V6 was not exactly welcomed by hot rodders and while it was a capable engine and moved the car down the road nicely, it was not exactly something that got people excited.

There were a multitude of reasons floated by Chrysler at the time of why the car did not come with a V8 but the reality is that the V6 was making about as much power as the V8 engines of the day and it packaged itself nicely in the seemingly tight confines of the Prowler’s nose. That being said, it still made the “wrong” noises for many people. This car fixes that problem, though.

Nestled between the custom louvered hood sides is a 6.1L Gen 3 hemi engine and while we’re guessing it is attached to the factory torque tube and rear mounted transmission we are not sure. This is a massive power upgrade for the car and we don’t believe the weight would really hurt the handling all that much if at all. What we do know for sure is that driving down the street with that hemi rumbling through the pipes would get the attention of every true car guy within ear shot because this car sounds like no other Prowler ever made.

So what do you think? Does the late model Hemi swap do as much for you as it does for us? We think it completely transforms the image of the car. We want a Prowler for the first time ever.
