This Insanely Tired and Flared 1970 AMC Javelin Is Our Favorite SEMA 2016 Car So Far

So here;s the bad news. We have no details on this car. The good news is that this car exists and in this moment, the thing is our favorite machine we have seen at SEMA 2016. Equipped with (if we believe the call outs) a 360ci AMC engine, a four speed transmission, fender flares on an Olympic level, and the AMC factory racing livery it has an appeal that we cannot really take into account for.

With big money cars on both sides of this one, half of the wonder about it is how much it cost to build and if it ever gets used. We’re praying that the thing gets put into the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational just to prove that the car needs those massive rear tires and whatever it is packing for power under the hood.

We’re going to get more details on this car as the week goes on but we’re in LOVE with this 1970 AMC Javelin!

Check out the photos below and then tell us what you think of this one!

What an inspired colour change – just right for this sunny weather! Its crazy how much money you are always saving – just brilliant! I'm always so jealous of your home made pizza nights – can I get one delivered? xxx

It looks like a new build with faketina applied to it, that body is awfully straight for a used race car.

Most of the TransAm racers used aluminum Minilite wheels due to their lower unsprung weight.
I don’t recall anyone running Cragars.

I have to agree with changing to Minilites. Even though it’s a fake Trans Am racer, make the appearance more authentic

Thank you for your sensible review. Me and my neighbor were just getting ready to do several research relating to this. We acquired a get a publication from our area selection but I do believe I discovered more out of this post. I’m very glad to find out such exceptional info becoming shared freely on the market.

Dashiell, since you seem to be interested in new ideas to shake up the status quo, how do you feel about a binational state which need not separate any Israelis or Palestinians from the rest of their people or the land they treasure?

It’s not a 1970, It’s a ’68 or ’69. Therefore it likely still has trunion Front suspension, so at OUSCI it would be supremely disadvantaged.
I saw this more than a year ago, and I love it.

Since it has American Racer Sprint car tires on it, does that mean it’s set up for dirt trackin??

Bring it over for the Goodwood Revival next year and watch it destroy the competition in the St.Mary’s Trophy.

Really like the car, but I hope this patina fad goes out of style soon. If it\’s not wear and tear from ACTUAL wear and tear them it does not have character. My opinion, do with it what you will.

Nice fake. Where do I start? Factory cars were Blue/White/Red front to rear. Wheel flares are too big, bordering on comical. T/A rules mandated a displacement of 305 cid, the 360 block was used, but not advertised on the car. The wheels and tires are all wrong, and Sunoco was Penske’s primary sponsor, and not just a contingency sticker. Whew! PS, no tach on the dash. Now this could be the real deal that someone with a twisted sense of history thought up..

Looks like an old IMSA track car for that time period. AMC was always underated but never uncompetive. Just ask any one that owns one.71,72,73 TA champion! What would you do?
