This 1970 Opel GT is a great example of a different pro touring machine than you normally see. Chad asked the world of dare to be different thinking was dead in pro touring and it is a valid question but we think that this Opel is proof that it is not.

Now, you may all jump on our back about the fact that this has an LS engine in it and that’s fine but we’re going on record as saying in the pro touring world the functional handling of the car far outweighs the importance of the engine. The most impressive part about this car is not the fact that it is V8 powered or the fact that it is gutted inside and likely weighs nothing. No, the most impressive part is the fact that someone took the time to hot rod the chassis end of the thing and make it a corner burner.

While we have no details as to what the suspension modifications of the Opel are we can tell you that it looks damned good with all that rubber bolted to each corner, the fenders flared out, and the matte style paint job or wrap. We’re also digging on the wheels pretty hard. The whole car is pretty mean and while we have normally only seen Opels as drag racing cars, this one looks right at home burning up the corners.

We dig the fact that the interior is (as we said) gutted and has just the basic stuff needed to get by. We’re sure this car could have been built cleaner with about a zillion more dollars but it will never been as cool as it is in this video being used and hammered on between the cones.

  1. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

The best looking Opel GT I have ever seen!

Sell the LS and swap in a screaming 4-rotor Mazda motor and then go out hunting anything powered by an LS….

agree with Geordie. another no brain zombie that can’t build any other engine that’s not available at 7-11. bring out the blow-up doll. they wouldn’t know the difference between a real babe and fake one.

John and Geordie, feel free to post up the video/pictures of the bad azz competition rides ya’ll built using a 400M or a 5.0 inline six. I’m an AMC, Cummins, and BMC fan, but for competition purposes it’s hard to beat an LS $ per horsepower. Quit hating. I almost wish CK/GS would come back.
