(By Tom Lohnes)- Convertibles have long been the vehicles that we see and want but can’t have. With soft tops and not very much practicality, they’re purely toys for nothing other than driving pleasure. Today I’ve compiled a list of the top 3 best convertibles on the market with 4 seats and automatic transmissions. For the sake of this list, cost and reliability will not be factors, just purely fun.
Starting off with probably the best choice that makes no sense at all, we have the Maserati GrandCabrio MC. Packing a Screaming 4.7-liter V8 and 454 horsepower, this $155,000 Italian beauty is not focused on performance, but the experience. The engine revs up to 8,500 RPM and sounds absolutely amazing, and the 6-speed DCT isn’t so bad either. Did I mention it looks good?
Coming up in the number 2 spot, we have the BMW M8 Competition Convertible. With AWD, 617 horsepower out of a 4.4-liter Twin-Turbo V8, and a 2.9-second 0-60 time, this Bimmer can fly. It can also make your bank account fly into debt as well because this big boy BMW costs $180,000, and looks gorgeous. Power runs through an 8-speed ZF automatic as well. If you’re looking for more of a punch than the Maserati, this is your choice.
If you want your convertible to rip through tires and set lap records at the same time, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible is your best bet. Packing GM’s monstrous LT4 and 650 horsepower, this beast can be had with either a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic. Pricing is also a lot more conservative than the other two as well, with prices as low as $70,000.
