The Art of Racing In The Rain: Watch Chris Harris Tip-Toe (Mostly Sideways) A V8 Falcon Around Goodwood In The Wet

We’ve ALL seen Chris Harris sideways in a car before, right? As an awesome race driver turned automotive media guy, Harris is known to pretty much everyone who has watched cool car videos on the internet for the last decade. This is a different look for Harris though, and while it is at a relatively low speed, it may be the most telling of his driving abilities. You are going to watch him driving a little V8 Falcon in the rain and it’s a study in calm, in discipline, and in controlled slides. The Goodwood course is sodden in this video and as you will hear, the second Harris thinks about breathing on the gas, the thing is spinning the tires as if it is on a skating rink.

No, the car is not the fastest thing on the track but watching his car control and just awesome sense of calm is great. This is not swatting bees, this is not sawing the wheel back and forth like a maniac, this is using the car to the best of his abilities in the moment, and letting the chips fall where they may.

The drifts look so graceful in the car, they must have been truly beautiful outside it!
