Niklas Ajo may not be a household name in the world of motorsports fans but after watching the most incredible save and finish that even the most grizzled racing veterans admit is among the best ever, that ma change. Ajo was running hard on the last lap of the race when the bike went into a tank slapper. Rather than being thrown from the motorcycle and sliding off on the grass, he managed to hold onto the bike, even when his body was no longer on the seat, he managed to hang onto the bars and basically cross the finish line while skidding along on his knees next to the motorcycle after reentering the course after the incident.
The sheer balls required to pull off this feat go far beyond our words could ever explain. When you see the motorcycle sliding through the grass and heading for what looks to be a fatal collision with the wall, your heart will sink. It will then leap out of your chest when you see Ajo somehow maintain control of the thing and not only save himself but actually finish the race. We do not know his finishing position but if such things were graded on style points (we’re looking at YOU drifting…) Ajo would have won this thing walking away.
