As racing season is in full swing all over the country now, we’ve been getting practically run under with wild video clip submissions of wrecks, flips, and carnage. This video has none of that stuff. Instead, we’re going to feature one of the coolest in-car videos we’ve seen in a long time. Shot from over the driver’s shoulder, this is very educational footage for anyone who doubts the driving acumen of America’s thousands of dirt track oval warriors. The driver in this video is at the controls of a dirt modified which is one of the oldest classes of cars in dirt track racing. Things have come a long way since the good old boys were running around in their hammered and chopped up Ford coupes, and that’s all for the better.

When the race begins, our hero is in last place and by the end of the 5-minute video, he’s climbed his way to first and most importantly to the checkered flag. Pay super close attention to his steering and throttle inputs as rounds the course, often mere inches from his other competitors. To say that there’s a lot happening inside that car would be the understatement of the year!

I am itching to get out on a course and hammer on a car. This video has me jonesing to find someone who owns one of these and would be soft enough in the head to allow me or teach me how to run a couple laps. From the sideways attitude in the corners to the blistering acceleration in the straights and the absolutely sex-tastic sounding 400+ ci small block engine powering the car, dirt modifieds are the STUFF from top to bottom!
