Wicked In-Car Video: Make Laps Of Road America Inside The Vintage Trans-Am AAR ‘Cuda Of Dan Gurney!

At its heart, every pro touring car wants to be a Trans-Am racer, right? That’s the was I feel about it anyway. I know when I am burning corners with ol’ Buford T Justice, I think that I’m Parnelli Jones or one of the other greats of that era when pony cars with screaming small blocks brought tens of thousands of fans to road courses across America. It was manufacturer versus manufacturer with some of the greatest drivers in the world mixing it up. When I saw this video of driver Andy Boone making laps in the historic former Dan Gurney raced AAR ‘Cuda, I was enthralled for the length of the thing. The sounds, the look of the car, the amount of sheer driving that is needed to keep the machine moving in the right direction is fantastic. The fact that Boone is a talented wheel man makes all the different, too!

Road America is a place I have never been, but Chad has been to several times for announcing Optima events and other stuff. The course is recognized as one of the most picturesque in the country as well as one of the most challenging. Over the course of the video you’ll see Boone mixing it up with Boss 302 Mustangs (just like Parnelli’s!) a BMW “batmobile”, Corvettes, etc. While the ‘Cuda had a short and largely unsuccessful run in the glory days of early 1970s Trans-Am racing, it was one of the coolest cars out there, then and now.
