Will Koenigsegg Build A Hypertruck Of Some Kind? Let’s Just Say That They Haven’t Denied It

(By Tom Lohnes) – Koenigsegg may be one of the few companies to never have an SUV in their lineup. Pretty much everyone else has jammed one together, sometimes awkwardly simply because they sell so well. The sole reason for Koenigsegg’s absence from that game is the fact that Christian Von Koenigsegg, the Founder and CEO of the company, does not like them. Therefore, none will be built. What was not denied in a recent interview conducted with him, was an off-roader of some sort.

What this off-roader is could be is anyone’s guess, but with a recent introduction of the Gemera 4-seater, and all of them selling out in 3 minutes, a raised, multi-million-dollar Gemera on off-road tires is a complete possibility. Although a stretch, this could be a huge profit boost for Koenigsegg, because the Freevalve 3-cylinder is a fascinating engine, the 7-clutch 9-speed DCT is a true feat of engineering, the body is gorgeous, and the interior looks amazing, so spend a little money on some new suspension and wheels, put some off-road tires on said wheels, and make a ton of profit. It would please the enthusiast, and a Koenigsegg purist doesn’t yet exist, so why not? They can use some of their Gemera money once they actually deliver them, and then create a totally awesome vehicle with immense capability.

What are the odds of a 1,700 horsepower, AWD, dirt-slinger with the Koenigsegg crest on the hood? Very small. Would it be awesome? Yes.
