I normally spend a small part of my day chucking darts at a board with a photo of Crag Fitzgerald on it. Today I have stopped that practice for the morning and will instead tip my cap to the man because he scooped us big time on an awesome story involving the lowest mile Silver Anniversary Corvette ever found. The Corvette has just hit eBay and certainly seems to have the potential to beat the previous sales record for a 1978 Silver Anniversary Corvette which was just over $37,000 a few years ago. That car had nine miles on it.
What makes this car interesting is how it was ordered and optioned and then how the buyer literally took it and stored it from moment one rather than driving and enjoying it. That buyer has since passed. Apparently the family has decided to sell the car and it is currently listed on eBay.
1978 Corvettes were never really performance icons. Even with the better motor they were making about 20ohp but people have always gobbled up the special edition stuff. This car was optioned to the hilt and Craig has the factory option sheet as a part of his story.
It is a very interesting read and as much as it hurts to say, he did a really nice job on the story.
It may hit into the $40K range but a Trans Am of the same mileage and year usually bring more money.
Mid-70’s Corvettes are junk.
Barrett ripoff would get $300,000 for this easy…..
On any given day, E bay has over 1,000 vettes listed FOR SALE, many far nicer than this one.
KEEP IT!
“Hey, come over and see the Vette I just bought.” “Cool, can we take it for a ride?” “No.”
Brian, thanks for the great press … we bought 5 cars out of the Adams estate collection last year and I felt bad about leaving this one behind, so I went back and got it last week. Let’s see what the market will bear. The press doesn’t hurt!
