Perhaps our favorite part of watching the videos on the Hand Tool Rescue channel beyond the old school craftsmanship, is seeing the weird array of tools that the guy manages to get his hands on and bring back to life. This one is a bizarro world creation from about 100 years ago that was a combo vice – drill – anvil. We totally get the vice and anvil part but the hand operated drill!? That’s a new one on us and usually when we see the dingy version of the project we cannot really see how the thing will ever work and then at the end the payoff is seeing it do some cool stuff.
Well this one is interesting in that even when the tool is completed and is demonstrated we’re still kind of scratching our heads, as is Mr Hand Tool.
Another thing we really enjoy about these videos is the detail and care that goes into every project. At first blush this seems like a piece of work that needs a clean up and little else. Wrong. By the time we’re done there’s brazing, machining, blacksmithing, and other dark arts used to make this piece as good as new.
It’s cool, it’s interesting, and it’s a lot of fun to watch!
