If you had walked into a Chevrolet dealer in 1962 and bought this exact truck and then dipped said truck in Cosmoline and not taken it out for 50 years, it still would not be as nice as the restoration you are looking at right now. We love our hyperbole around here but the fact is that this is likely the nicest 1962 Chevy 4×4 pickup in the world. It would be tough to argue this point because the car has been restored like one would restore a Ferrari worth millions. Every nut and bolt is perfect. The bright red exterior paint and the gold interior color are beautiful together, and everything right on down the lug nuts is just absolutely mind-boggling.

Powered by a “High Torque” M-code 283 that has also been restored and detailed to the max, there’s a manual transmission with a 4-foot long shifter coming up through the floor to get the power to the axles. By 1962 Chevrolet was producing their four wheel drive trucks on the line, no longer farming out the work to NAPCO. With its knobby tires and selectable hubs up front, the look is perfect. This is a spartan truck. No power brakes, no power steering, small back window, all business just the way we like them.

The restoration of this truck took two years as according to the seller and it looks like it. We’d not feel bad driving the truck and giving it some usage scars because after all, it is a truck. One that lived a live in California and has been pampered and revitalized for the second part of its existence. This is one we truly wish we had the cash for!
